Windows are in most rooms of a house. The exceptions mostly consist of storage and utility rooms, bathrooms, and rooms that are classified as dens. Other than that, under building codes, rooms need to have windows. Not only do they provide this way of escape if the need arises, it lets the beauty of natural sunlight come in. Most people would not enjoy a home that is all closed in and with the inability to see the outdoors.

So, now we have all these windows that we get to enjoy looking out of, however, there are also times that we want to be able to stop the outside from seeing in or during a hot summer day, block the sun out. As each room normally has its own d√ącor theme, it can become a trying task to decide on how to decorate each window. There are so many options to choose from which doesn’t help the decision-making process.

On the other hand, it is great to have so many options to choose from and you can use more than one type of window treatment on any given window to give it a layered look. You could always reach out to a local blinds installation company like Cover Your Windows.

What does Layered Window Coverings Look Like?

Simply put it is using at least two different types of window treatment options. Envision a window that has blinds and drapes, that would be an example of layering a window. By using both you can as much or as little sunlight as you want. If you have the blinds all the way opened and the drapes pushes to the sides, you can have full sunlight and sight to the outdoors. If you close the blinds and drapes, you will block mostly all of the sun and there will be no sight to the outside.

Or envision a window that has blinds, sheers and curtains. With sheers you can see outside, but it makes it harder for the outside to see in. Then depending on how much light or privacy you want can determine how much each is opened or closed. There are many possibilities.

What Options are There for Window Treatments?

There are many different types of window coverings and it will come down to a matter of personal preference as to what one chooses. There are also many options when it comes to material, style, fabric, colour and shape. However, the basic options to choose from are:

  • Blinds
  • Drapes
  • Curtains
  • Shutters
  • Panels
  • Sheers

From those basic choices of coverings will bring many more options of each type which anyone will be sure to find what will suit their needs and preferences. Then once you narrow down what look you want, you can decide if you want to choose just one type or multiple types of coverings for each window.
